A Touchy Subject
24" x 36" Acrylic on Cradled Gessobord
“A Touchy Subject” is a painting that considers how we explore and learn about the world around us through play, touch and natural consequences. At times, I relate to the leopard: exhausted and in need of a rest, yet still powerful and unpredictable. Other times, I relate to the child: relentlessly curious, adaptive, and longing for connection. But what will happen when these two dynamics intersect?

Fluff Scuffle
approx 24x24” acrylic on wood
“Fluff Scuffle” is inspired by two of my cats. My husband and I were surprised to find a kitten at our doorstep during the pandemic, and it’s been highly entertaining watching him grow up and find his “place in the pride” among our other older cats. Some days, he’s at the top of the food chain, calling all the shots, growing bigger and stronger with each fearless bound. Other days, he’s been “put in his place” by his more experienced family members. Whether he listens and learns, on the other hand…is another story.

Marshmallow Cat III
8x8 Acrylic on Wood
My “Marshmallow Cat Head” series derives from the new skills I learned while using an array of power tools to create new formats for my paintings. Cutting wood into custom shapes has allowed me to expand my compositions beyond the constraints of a standard rectangle canvas. I love how this series provides an endless venue of future possibilities, combining my love of pop art and graphic design with customization and playful exploration of colors, textures, and themes.
